Why we are celebrating this Deepavali festival?

According to Ramayan, The Lord Ram killed Ravana and rescue his wife Sita and return with his brother Lakshmana to Ayodhya after 14 year. That time in Residents of Ayodhya welcomes his King and Queen at home by Lighting the lights, making delicious snacks.

Goddess Lakshmi was born when the ocean was churned by gods and demons. And on the night of Diwali, Lakshmi chose Lord Vishnu as her husband and married him. We celebrate that day as a Narak chatudarshi.

How Deepavali is celebrated?

This festival falls in the month of Kartik, we celebrate the new moon of October/November. It starts with cleaning, the house is cleaned from 10 days before Diwali, the house is decorated by putting garlands of lights, sky lanterns, pylons on the door of the house. People give gifts to each other on this festival.

All the people in the house wake up in the morning and take abhangsnan. Outside the house, rangolis are drawn, new clothes are bought and the women of the house prepare delicious snacks. Children burst firecrackers after worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on Narak Chaturdarshi. This is how Diwali is celebrated. Actually Diwali is celebrated for five days.

The first day is Vasubaras

This day is the first day of Diwali and Ekadashi is also observed on this day. Diwali actually starts from this day itself. The first day of Diwali is Vasubaras, on this day Wake up in the morning and take abhangsnan, Rangoli is drawn outside the house, lamps are lit all over the house and cows are worshiped in the evening. This is how the first day is celebrated.

Second day is Dhanteras

On the second day of this Diwali i.e. Dhanteras, lamps are lit around the houses and Dhanvantari Devi is worshipped. They buy gold and silver on that day. This is considered an auspicious time to buy.

Third day is Deepavali (Narak Chaturdarshi)

The third day is the long day of Diwali. On this day, all the people of the house worship Lakshmi and Kubera, offering as much food as the women of the house made to the goddess as Prasad, buying a new broom and worshiping them on this day. After pooja children burst crackers and eat sweets.

Forth day Deepavali Padwa

This day is called Balipratipada. Bali is worshiped on this day. The Gods had blessed him that you would be worshiped on this day. It is one day out of three and a half muhurtas. Women in Maharashtra admire their husbands and the husbands wave. The newly married couple’s first Diwali is celebrated at the wife’s house. This is called Diwalsan.

Fifth day Bhaubeej(bhaiduj)

Deepavali

Bhaubij is the day of brother-sister love. On this day, the sister waves to the brother and prays that no calamity befalls him and that he live forever. It is a custom that those who have no brothers should wave to their to the respected brother, or else wave to the moon as a brother.
